Operation Summary:

Arcelik is the largest Turkish producer of white goods, including refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, and ovens. Established in 1955, the company controls 58% of the domestic market. Its major competitor is PEG Profilo, which holds nearly 25% of the market. Arcelik owes its superior position to its well-developed distribution and after-sales service network, unique in the domestic industry.

Arcelik also boasts one of the strongest management teams in Turkey. Its declared target is to position the company among the top five European white  goods
producers by 2005.

Since 1995, the company has been consistently increasing its profitability, thanks not only to its own successful marketing and financial policy, but also to
the rapid growth of the domestic white goods market at an average rate of 21% during 1995-97.

Currently, Arcelik is the largest private-sector Turkish company. It has about a 2% weighting on the ISE-100 index.

Arcelik, the biggest private sector company in Turkey, is the Koc Group's manufacturer of high quality durable consumer goods. Its products
are sold within Turkey as well as exported worldwide under the Arcelik and Beko brands.

Arcelik, Turkey's leading private company is also one of the major manufacturers of household appliances in the world.
 

Arcelik started  manufacturing in 1955 commencing  the production of  white goods in 1959 in the form of washing machines, this was then  followed by the
 company's introduction of the first domestic refrigerators to the Turkish market in 1960.

 From these humble beginnings Arcelik has grown to become one of the six largest manufacturers of household appliances in Europe exporting to over
 36 countries around the world.

 Arcelik has recently celebrated its 41st year as a manufacturer with the know-how that over 30 million of its white goods products have been manufactured, marketed and sold world-wide.

 Fully satisfying customer expectations  and requirements  is the guiding mission of Arcelik. In order to achieve and maintain the high standards it has, Arcelik has a continual programme of investment which encompasses plants, manufacturing equipment, Research & Development and most importantly personnel
 

As part of its corporate strategy to maximise production capacity and the penetration of its products in established and developing world markets Arcelik has built four separate plants in different regions of Turkey dedicated to the production of refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners/small domestic appliances. Today all the above plants benefit from the installation and utilisation of some of the most developed production equipment, techniques and in process quality systems in the world. Arcelik has allocated 400 scientists and engineers in various product development departments to convert technology into new reliable and durable products.

The Arcelik central Research & Development centre  which is based at its head office in Cayirova, occupying over 10.000 m²  and is the work base for a dedicated team of scientists and engineers devoted to the development of reliable, efficient, environmentally friendly and quiet products which offer value for money and are best suited to customer needs.

 Research & Development is given high priority by the management of Arcelik which is demonstrated by the capital investment afforded to this function being
approximately 2% of annual company turnover.

 All Arcelik's manufacturing plants are accredited to the quality management system ISO 9000 and each holds various national safety approvals such as BEAB, VDE etc.

 In order to introduce Environmental Management Systems in all its establishments Arcelik has revamped its current facilities and they are all now designed to protect the environment and to supply the efficient use of natural resources.

 In 1995 the Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Refrigerator plants embarked on the quest to embrace the use of the Environmental Management Systems within their daily operating practices. Accreditation to the internationally recognised Environmental Management System (BS7750) was achieved in the Cayirova  Washing Machine plant in December 1995, the system being verified by SGS Yarsley, UK. This achievement meant Arcelik became one of the first manufacturers in Europe to be independently acknowledged as having environmentally friendly business practices.
 

Against the  environmental  pollution and the threatening disappearance natural resources, Arcelik has taken various steps to improve public awareness  approach towards the environment, and has sponsored the "International Environment and Peace Organisation" both in 1994 and 1995.

 In recent years Arcelik has focused its drive in exports through the brand "BEKO" increasing the penetration of its products in the established markets of Western Europe as well as the developing markets in the Middle East, Northern Africa and CIS countries. Arcelik determined to continue growth through experts in the new millenium.
