Alone

One day, we'll suddenly realise,
That we need to change,
And let go of our past,
Which we have clutched so deeply.

I need to be strong,
I've learnt the truth,
That in this world of reality,
I am facing it alone.

Slowly, day by day,
I am building up the walls,
Surrounding me, Protecting me,
Shielding me from Pain.

But it is not always easy,
Because anything can hurt me.
Even words are powerful,
They can tear me apart.

I watch in silence,
As these walls start crumbling,
but I can't give in,
Not now, not ever.

If I step outside my boundaries,
The consequences I face will be dear,
Like a plague, everywhere I go,
People will tumble and get hurt.

That is why this one-way path,
I will take alone,
This moment on I will fend for myself,
Until the end of time.
