How should a student format his or her work?

Format of work

All work should contain:

Top of page on the left - your name with second name first e.g. Novak Jan and below this your course

Top of page on the right - my name and below it the final date of submission

Title - it must be exactly as I state, centred and underlined, not your interpretation of it

Use only Times New Roman or Arial 12, you will be penalised if you do not adhere to these rules

You should use a spellchecker set on English UK (Word 2000 - Tools – Set Language), as work with spelling mistakes looks very shoddy and non-academic.

Do not use contractions: I am, not I`m

Use English  “speech marks”

Try to avoid phrasal verbs as they are less academic (unless asked to do so)

Use numbers: five not 5, twenty not 20

Email – put your second name, course and submission month date/year in the subject of all emails

e.g. novak_prak1_dec08

In the body of the email mention why you are writing especially if it is a repeat email.

Saving – save all docs in .doc format, that means Word 2000 not docx, you can also save and send in  Wordpad this an rtf file and is found in the accessories of Windows, however, often the format changes in Wordpad.

All files should be saved thus: name, course, submission date month/year e.g. Novak_Prak1_Dec08
