Introduction to Computers
Grades 9-12
Mr. Gross
Dear Parents and Guardians:
As your child’s computer teacher, I will do everything possible to ensure a rewarding experience for him/her. The following information may be helpful in understanding what is expected and what we are attempting to accomplish in this course.
Attendance and Tardy Policy:
The current James Monroe High Attendance Policy will be adhered to. The PERMIT TO RE-ENTER CLASS (PRC) MUST be given to the teacher when the student returns at the beginning of the class. Because this is a computer class, classwork often cannot be completed at home. Therefore, it is extremely important for the student to attend class each and every school day. Please schedule all vacations and trips so they do not interfere with your child’s education. If your child must miss class, he/she can make up missing work by attending the computer lab at the Viking Zone which will be available after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, excluding professional development days and shortened days.
Your child is considered tardy if he/she is not seated at their desk when the tardy bell rings. For each three tardies, the student is subject to after school detention.
Course Description:
This is an introductory course in computer literacy. Students will first learn proper keyboarding, including posture and proper techniques for touch control.

Homework:
Because most of the work for this class requires a computer equipped with special programs there will be little, if any, homework assignments.

I look forward to making this class a fun and exciting one for your child while providing him/her with many employable skills that will be useful to his/her future. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Aron Gross
