God's Way
I wrote this poem late one night in 1984 after I had had a really intense argument with my son, Donnie. He was a teenager still living at home and we just couldn't agree on what he could do and not do.
God, I sit here all alone, I know there's something I'm doing wrong. And You don't even have to tell me what it is, it's the strife between me and one of my kids. I know the Bible says to give my burdens to you. I did that, Lord, now what do I do? Leave them there? I know I should. But I don't, and it's just no good, to sit, and worry and fret, when You'll take over, if I'll just let You have the burden, just leave it there, And go "Your way" without a care.

"Feeling"
I wrote this poem March 1985. I guess I was just feeling a burden for people who haven't accepted Christ as their personal Saviour.
My God, my God, How unworthy I feel. But Lord I know that Your mercy is real. If not for that mercy, then how lost I would be. But it's this unworthy feeling that keeps me on my knees. Burden me now with souls round about, that Your sweet Holy Spirit are living without. That I might pray and You might hear, Their souls be saved, and Your Son be theirs. |
