Bishop Dedicates New Window |
The Church's new stained glass window was dedicated at a special service on August 27th. The idea for the window was born in April of last year when a parishioner suggested it to replace the plain glass windows in the gable wall of the transcept. The Select Vestry gave the go ahead to the scheme which became known as the 'Parish Millennium Project', and possible designs were explored. The order to proceed with the design manufacture and installation of our new window was placed with the 'Leadlines and David Esler Studios' last October after the Parish managed to raise the sum of 13,000 required. |

The overall theme of the window is the celebration of Christ's promised return. The powerful central figure depicts Christ as a fisherman casting his nets towards the earth and to the crowds gathered around him. The empty cross with the words Anno Domini MM are references to the year 2000 and in a simple way remind on-lookers that it is His Millennium and that we are looking forward to Christs return Amongst those attending the service were Bishop of Down and Dromore Harold Millar and Reverand Canon J. D. Tyney (former Rector of our Parish) |
