League Rules

OMPL Rules

Definitions:
Match: A complete round of eighteen (18 ) runs played according to match play rules.
Match play rules: Players keep track of their score for individual runs only. Players compare their respective scores after finishing a run. The player with the lower score wins the run and is awarded one (1) point. If both players tie, zero (0) points are awarded for that run. The total number of points awarded to a player becomes their score.
Disc Golf Course: Any course designated as a disc golf course having established pads and targets consisting of baskets or tonal poles. Object targets are not acceptable no matter how well marked.
Home Player: The player designated as "the home player" in the schedule
Table Points: Points awarded as the result of winning or tying a match.

Guidelines for Competition:
Rules of Play:
The Rules of Disc Golf, as defined by the Professional Disc Golf Association, shall govern the rules of play except where these rules are specific to a format other than match play. OMPL rules and regulations shall supercede those of the PDGA.

Courses:
Matches should be played at one of Jacques Cartier Park Disc Golf Course, Camp Fortune Disc Golf, Kanata Disc Golf Course, and Flat Mountain Disc Golf Course. Where both players agree, a match may be played at any Disc Golf Course as defined in these rules.  The Home player chooses the course to be played, which Tee Pads to use, which hole will be played 1st, and who shoots 1st on the first hole.

Selection of Course:
The home player shall select a course and designate which pads shall be used for the match prior to the first throw of the match. The same tee pads should be used for all 18 holes. Certain situations will arise like things can will need to be flexible ie league night when there are soccer players, soccer players, etc. If there is no need to change the intended course to be played, then don’t.

Continuation of Play:
Where for reasons not anticipated it becomes necessary to postpone a round after it has already started, players shall be allowed to do so. On resuming a match already started, the runs already played shall be considered completed, and the round shall resume at the next run as though the match were never postponed.
Where for reasons not anticipated it becomes impossible to play certain runs on a course, and where both players agree, other runs may be repeated until 18 runs have been played.
If players inadvertently play from an incorrect pad or into an incorrect basket, and the match is not yet completed, the run shall be considered to have never been played, and the players shall replay the respective run in the correct configuration.
Where, after completing the round and submitting a score, the players realize that they played a run from an incorrect pad or into an incorrect basket, the score submitted shall stand.
Under no circumstance shall play proceed when there is risk of lightning.

Divisions:
Players will be assigned divisions according to the geographical location of their primary residence, but may be reassigned at the discretion of the OMPL Director prior to the beginning of the season. The schedule will change each year so the 2 stronger divisions will play 2 games against each other and the two weaker divisions will play two games against each other. This will result in a weaker division playing one game against a stronger division.

Reporting Results:
The Winning Player shall report the result of their match to the OMPL Director in a timely manner.
The results shall be reported as follows:
Home Player Name: Score
Away Player Name: Score
The preferred method for the reporting of results is through private message to the OMPL Director via the ODGC forum.
Where the winning player fails to provide the score in a timely manner, the tournament director may, at their discretion, penalize the home player by denying them one or more points, but will not otherwise alter who won the match.

If a player misses a game due to dog dying,  almost cut finger off, wife gives birth, kid is sick, etc that's cool. Make it up when you can. If a player misses a match due to laziness or something along those lines, they have to play the game late, finish the schedule, then the points will count.

The OMPL director may, at their discretion, penalize players in default by denying them any points for the respective match.
The OMPL Director may, at their discretion, award a win to one player in default for the respective match in default. The award of a win according to this rule will only be made where it is clear to the OMPL director that one of the defaulting players was purposely avoiding a match, while the other was making every effort to arrange for the match The avoiding player will also start the next season with -4 pts.
Players found to be in default repeatedly may be disqualified, or barred from participating in future match play leagues. Disqualification may result in the removal of points awarded to the disqualified player, and points lost by the disqualified player.
