Alturas
A wonderful tune from the Peruvian Andes. Tunes like this are usually played on pan pipes. Some of these pipes can be over a metre in length. They also use a guitar like instrument called a Charango. This is much smaller than a guitar. The body is often made from the shell of an armadilo.
I've written this as a two part arrangement for descant and tenor. In order to get that authentic Peruvian sound, you need to tongue your recorder quite hard......particularly the tenor recorder. Try to get a hard chuffing sound on every note. This tune is much harder than most of the other Groeswen tunes, but I think you'll agree that it's worth the effort.
