DON'T WANT MY LIFE
I don't want my life, please take it away
I've give it a try and I don't want to stay
I spend most of my life staring out at the rain
Trying to get rid of, get rid of the pain inside.
They always say that things can only get better
Try to look forward to those future times
That I'm the only one who can really make it happen
I don't know how many times I've heard those lies
They forget they're something to do with my situation
That I told them they were wrong, don't go that way
But all they did was doubt education
When all went wrong they turn to me and blame
And it's been that way all through my temptatious childhood
Chastised for correcting errors of their ways
I'd learn to be right to avoid the fight
But told to be quiet and not say
So I sat and watched in silence at the carnage
And quietly did the right things, educate their minds
But they'd smash it down and say I was nothing special
I was just like them, but I couldn't be so unkind.
Then they scoff at me and say that they've got money
The power and control it gives them forms their view
I remind them the bible says its God or money
I'd rather be me and listen and not you
Have you ever heard of a word that's called corruption?
You're blinded by your greed and find no sanctity
And that's what's behind all of your sick decisions
Then all goes wrong and in anger then blame me
But I have to turn to God and ask this question
What's wisdom if it only leads to pain?
If I can't speak to them and make them listen
Just what in life am I supposed to gain?
For all I get is people's condemnation
The scapegoat when they find that they are wrong
But don't want me to be right or be perfect
And so to God I sing to you this song
I don't want my life, please take it away
I've give it a try and I don't want to stay
I spend most of my life staring out at the rain
Trying to get rid of, get rid of the pain inside.
