No Neutrality
Michael Sei Davis
God hates you. You are God's
enemy. How can I make such brazen
statements? Allow me to clarify these
statements.
1) God hates you. I don't know who first stated, "God
loves everybody," because this is simply not true. God does not love everybody
unconditionally. Listen to what
Scripture has to say:
"For thou art not a God who delights
in wickedness; evil may not sojourn with thee.
The boastful may not stand
before thy eyes; thou hatest all
evildoers. Thou destroyest those who
speak lies; the Lord abhors bloodthirsty and deceitful men." (Emphasis
added) Psalm 5:4-6 (RSV)
"The Lord tests the righteous and the
wicked, and his soul hates him that loves
violence. On the wicked he will rain
coals of fire and brimstone; a scorching wind shall be the portion of their
cup. For the Lord is righteous, he loves
righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face." (Emphasis added)
Psalm 11:5-7
Conclusion: If you are a sinner...God hates you. Yet when I was a sinner
by nature, Jesus Christ my Lord shed His blood that I might be saved from the
wrath of God-Yes, while I was His enemy He paid the penalty for my sins. What wondrous love is this that Christ should
die for me. In this very act we see
divine love in action. God forgives His
enemies. God shows love to His enemies
by giving them salvation through faith.
2)
You are God's enemy. "He who is
not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me
scatters." Likewise "...he that is not against you is for you." Luke
11:23 and 9:50 It is clear that there is no neutrality. You are either for God or against Him. You are either His friend or His enemy. So I reiterate: [If Jesus is not the Lord of
your life] you are God's enemy. This is also
true for those who label themselves "Christian." Claiming it is not enough...You need to live
it. You need discipleship, fellowship,
and accountability. [Note: I am not
merely trying to get more people to come to the Bible study I host. In fact, I would rather see more people go to
the other Bible studies than to be isolated from other Christians on
campus.] What I want to see is unity on
campus. There is no such thing as a
loner Christian. No Christian will be
effective on his own. Jesus didn't even
send His disciples out alone but He sent them out in pairs at the minimum. Get connected. Be vocal.
And remember: there is no neutrality in this life.
Do you want to know how to become a friend
of God? On the practical level, I am
inviting you to come to the Bible study I am hosting. But if you cannot come, please check out
Campus Bible Fellowship, which meets at 11am on Wednesdays in the Campus
Ministry Room or BASIC, which meets at 11am on Fridays in the same
location. The Bible study I am hosting
will be at 11am on Thursdays in the same location. However if you are not available for any of
these time slots, I am available at other times throughout the week and would
be more than willing to have a personal Bible study with you (see my ad in the
classified section).
