Welcome to "Angels Hep C Dragons Lair"

Heptitis C is called the dragon by many that are plagued with this disease. It was dubbed "The Dragon" because it lays hidden for years before anyone knows they have it, then it rears its ugly head and the victims have a true battle on their hands. The patients then become knights fighting off the horrid dragon.

Those at risk of Hepatitis C are: IV drug users, people that recieved blood products before they began testing for Hepatitis ,which was around 1980, including people that had immunizations in the 1960's (immunizations were made from blood products). Anyone who is inhaling powdered drug ie: cocaine, crystal meth, heroine, are also at risk. The vessels in their nose bleed then the utencil for inhaling is passed to another person risking blood to blood contact.

Casual sexual relations is NOT a risk. ONLY rough sexual relations and or multiple partners are at risk due to the possibility of injury during such liasons.. To date there has not been any cases of Hepatitis C caused by sexual relations reported.

Symptoms of Hepatitis C are as follows: flu like symptoms, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches and pains, chronic fatigue, insomnia and abdominal pain. During the acute stage Jaundice, which is the yellow discolorization of the skin and eyes.

Below you will find links to other sites that deal with hepatitis C. Most are run by people that have the illness themselves. What originally got me interested in Hepatitis C was living with, then marrying someone who had the disease. I did lots of research about it. I then contracted it from a needle stick after giving my boyfriend an injection of his interferon (which is one of the drugs they use to battle the dragon). How ironic huh! DUMB was what it was. Anyway my husband died in June of 2004 of cirrhosis of the liver. He was also an alcoholic. A deadly combo that caused his life to end at age 47. I have been lucky I was about to start my war against the dragon who had set his lair upon my liver. They tested my viral load before begining treatment. They found that it had dropped to below 50 (which is what they are looking for the treatment to do). It was a "miracle" my body had battled the dragon alone without drugs. God had reached down and dragged the dragon away. That was almost 2 years ago and there are still no signs of it rearing its ugly head.

Many people can live there whole lifetime and die of some other cause before they ever know they have it. Others can, if the damage is not too great, live to a ripe old age as long as they take care of their liver. So, the real key here is: if you are at risk get yourself tested, catch it early so you can have some control over the dragon! If you do have damage and have to have treatment there are many people out here to support you and give you information to help you get through it.

God Bless & Good Luck
