Choco-dot Cookies


1 Cup granulated sugar
1 Cup bakced brown sugar
2/3 Cup shortening
2/3 Cup margarine or butter, softened
2 Teaspoons vanilla
2 Eggs
2 3/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1 Teaspoon salt
2 Cups "M&M's" Plain Chocolate Candies
1 Cup chopped nuts, if desired.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugars, shortening, margarine, vanilla, and eggs in large bowl; stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in candies and nuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Press 3 or 4 additional candies in each cookie, if desired. Bake until light brown, 9 to 11 mniutes. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet.

Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

High altitude directions (3500 to 6500 feet): Increase flour to 3 cups. Decrease baking soda to 1/4 teaspoon. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
