Letters From Puppy Buyers... Dear Jan,

Just thought I would let you know that Kelby just graduated from beginners
obedience class. He took first place in experienced handler with a score of
158.5 out of 160. He learns so fast that sometimes we forget that he isn't even a year old yet.

Jan,

Very sorry about Brise. Here is a new picture of Beau (Silver). Thank you so much for choosing him for me.
He is a wonderful dog and we love him. He is very smart, gorgeous and a joy.

First let me say sorry for not keeping you more informed. I do apologize for that. As for our male puppy Chase, he is by far the best dog I have ever had. He is currently about 75 pounds of energy. He is very intelligent. He was totally house trained at four months, and I mean zero mistakes since he was four months old. He has already passed basic obedience training and is currently going through intermediate training. Commands he knows are come, sit, sit stay, down, down stay (with me present for about 10 minutes absent around 5 but getting better), wait (he will stop where ever he is and stay until released), no, no bite, and the one that wows them all leave it. I can throw his favorite dog bone near him and say leave it and he will back away. I will then pick it up and hold it out in my palm and he will not take it until I say okay. As for temperament, he is very very loving, and clingy. He really loves to please and he constantly has a curious look on his face. He is always thinking, always wanting to discover things. He is good with children and other dogs. He trusts all humans and is beginning to obey others if the say the command and hand signal correctly. As for looks, well Im very biased, but I cant remember a time that he has been out and about that someone has not commented on how good looking he is. Most people guess him much older I think a little from his size but more from his demeanor. He acts like a much older dog and I have trouble remembering some times that he is still just a puppy. He still likes me to pick him up backwards and he will lay back on my lap and chest. He is almost too big for that now, but he really likes it. He will lay there and watch TV with me. If you have any pictures of his litter mates, I would appreciate them. If you want more picture of Chase, just let me know. Of course you are free do what ever you want with the pictures of Chase that I sent you.

Thanks,
Bob Pendland

Hello Jan- what a great request from you-info on my wonderful dogs I just love to brag hope these pictures come thru-i have some on regular film of all four of them- Tess, Roxy, Sadie, and Yogi-Tessa doesn't play well with all three trying to be a boss too much-anyway's-if you want a gsd that believes she is above you, who will keep you thinking all the time because she is one step ahead of you, one who believes she is the most beautiful animal around, one who rules the household, then you name her "contessa" but if you want a smart, loving, loyal, obedient, headstrong, dog that you must keep busy all the time because she is thinking and is easily bored you call her Tessa-what a joy this dog is where she came from only God knows because he put a special tag on her sometimes i know she is too smart for us and we just live in her world. Now, Yogi well he is a Yogi-playful extremely loving and cuddly all 65lbs of him loves to please that is why it was so easy to go through 3 levels of obedient school and he is still learning. He just follows Tessa around and once in awhile ( we are hitting puberty) he may think he can challenge the queen but is put into his place quickly-two different dogs but both have the outstanding quality of the gsd-loyalty, intelligence, good natured-never show any aggression we love them. i just want to know "WHEN IS THE NEXT litter?-Mike would probably move out or he could buy me a bigger house-by the way the dogs are great with kids and even little ones, which we really do not see a lot of Tess does like to tell all strange dogs that she is the head of the household and do not even think of challenging her but no problems of aggression-will send the other photos in snail mail.
Keep in touch-
Tessa and Yogi-and the Cilladi family that shares the house and restaurant with them

Jan and Chris,
I couldn't decide which of these you would like, so here are several I shot today. I just wish I had some decent ones of him with kids.
He's soooo dreamy....makes me swoon. I love some of these expressions, especially the sad ones from behind bars..."so neglected, unloved, no food or water." Actually, I have started leaving him out of his crate and he's doing great as long as I have slippers and shoes out of reach. I am so proud of the little bugger. He has finally given up counter-surfing in the kitchen and has FINALLY stopped snarfing his food. The kibble would fly all over the place in a blur like on the cartoons.
I can't remember if I mentioned that he had xrays of the hips and elbows -- gorgeous, perfect so far!
Johann is a confident and very good natured puppy. I especially appreciate how beautifully he behaves with children. He is a Chicago downtown city dog and as such encounters all sorts of people, as I may have told you. He has made friends with many homeless, whether they are squatting on the sidewalk or lying on a bench. There is one unfortunate man with Tourette's syndrome who can't control his shouting. At first Johann hid behind me, observed and then came out to say hello. They are now good pals although Johann still jumps a mile at the first shout. Ah, life in the big city.
Apparently, he's a peanut compared to his brothers (Tazer, Chase and Nathan anyhow) at 62 lbs but that's plenty big for me and I'd like him to be a bit lean for those joints.
He loves other dogs of all kinds except if they have been nasty to him before, then he gets a bit clingy but will usually try again to see if the other guy will give him a second chance. He is the most rough and tumble player I have ever seen, which drives me crazy because given my shepherd past, I picture him coming home on crutches! He loves to chase and be chased. He is a terrible tease when it comes to treasures like sticks. He likes to make his pals jealous and goad them into a game of tug-o-war.
He is affectionate with me, a bed hog and couch hog just the way I like it!
I have no complaints or great concerns. He's a joy. I love him to pieces!
Thanks JD and Anja!

Forgive the gushing....
Ellen Szalinski
