Ways
of cooling down

Sweat trickled slowly from her brow in her eyes. Angrily she rubbed her eyes
and pushed her hair from her face.
Why did it have to be so blistering hot?
Her thin, cotton summer robes were plastered to her body and she felt sticky
and itchy all over. Looking out of the window, she looked whistfully
at the lake. Apart from the giant squit, it looked
heavenly.
Taking a wet cloth from the table, she rubbed it over her face. For a few, nice
seconds she cooled down a little bit, but then it felt as if her skin heated up
again like a warm stone and two minutes later she was as sticky and sweaty as
before.
Sighing deeply she left her office and walked through the corridors. While
walking, she placed a hand against the stone walls. Unbelievable,
even the normally so cold stone felt warm now.
Reaching the gargoyle she spoke the password and went upstairs. A lovely breeze
stroked across her cheeks for a few seconds and all too soon for her liking,
she was in front of the large wooden door.
“Ah, Minerva, you do look rather flustered, my dear”, Albus
greeted her with twinkling eyes.
“Don’t get me started”, she grumbled. “It’s been two weeks, it isn’t funny”.
Grinning broadly, he took in her appearence. Her
usual strict bun was half loose and strands of hair were plastered against her forhead. Her face was bright red and shining and she had
small droplets of sweat in the corners of her eyes.
“You’re not wearing your glases”, he observed.
“Please…”, she replied sighing. “The last thing I need right now is a pair of
glasses sliding down my nose all day long”.
“Is there anything I can do to help you?” he asked, biting his lip.
She smiled sweetly at him. “Well, if you don’t mind…”
He cleared the papers away from his desk with a flick of his wand and conjured
op a bowl filled with water. “Come here”.
Immediatly, she changed into her cat-form and leaped
on the desk. He dipped his hands in the cool water and ran them over her back.
Purring loudly, she closed her eyes and rubbed her head against his hand
occasionally. Five minutes later, she was completely cooled down.
She leaped from the desk and transformed again. Her face was back to it’s
normal colour again and she felt wonderfully fresh and cooled down.
“Being an Animagus has it’s
advantages, hasn’t it?” Albus asked smiling.
She returned his smile and sat down on his lap. Cupping his face between her
hands, she kissed him tenderly.
“Having a loving husband, too”.
No, I swear, I'm not a complete idiot. It has been very warm in Holland for
the past two weeks (in whole Europe) and our cat was very miserable. She has a
lot of black fur, so she got even more warm, to the point where she lay
half-dead in the grass.
Whenever that happened, we used to rub water in her fur and it always worked,
she cooled down in seconds. And it inspired me to writing this silly
fic.
