what are HOST's...???
HOST's are also called community leaders,We are present within the worlds program for serveral reasons..
1, to help new members with changeing their avatar,problems getting used to the program and just to help with anyother problem a new member may have.
2,to help members who are haveing problems,to try and make the worlds program enjoyable for members.
3,if a member is reported to be being offensive,rude and swareing at other members,then we are help to ask them to stop this behaviour,most of the time member's who have been spoken to by a host for offensive behaviour,do applogise.however some members refuse to stop useing fowl lanuage etc,so sadly we if nothing else can be done we are at liberty to remove them from the program for a period of time.(currently this is 30 minutes)However we can only do this after certain methods of trying to stop the other person being offensive has failed,we can't just remove (BOOT) whomever we wish to and for on reason..
IMPORTANT: NO HOSTS CAN READ ANY WORLDS MEMBERS PRIVATE WHISPER'S,THIS WOULD BE A BREECH OF ETHICS ,WHAT IS SAID IN WHISPER IS PRIVATE.
1.hosts are not members of worlds staff,the only worlds host who is on worlds staff is host-sirgemini.
2.hosts do not get payed at all,we choose to host freely because we like to help people
the only thing we do get is a years free vip membership.(which can be won at any of the worlds events)
3.hosts have nothing to do with the worlds staff,we do not have contact with the worlds staff (other than sirgemini) and we do not have the support team on speed dial on our phones or know the support teams worlds member names(other than some of their bluetag names) and even then most of us do not commit them the memory..
4.hosts have nothing to do with the programming of worlds.
5.hosts are not reponsable for upgrade problems,i understand that upgrades cause lag and problems and most people feel the need to go and shout at the nearest host. but believe me we are suffering with the same upgrade problems as you are and all we can do is ask you to mail [email protected],not everyone has a cable modem.
6.hosts do bring up your comments about upgrades and events in the host meetings.
7.All hosts have different personalities,some let things slide more than others, we are host in different ways.
8.the reason why worlds has hosts is to help new members,protect the younger ones and stop offensive members, but we are not worlds police.
9.this one is very important.
hosts are people,we have feelings and believe me sometimes its not nice to sit on your pc for 3 hours without a break,being shouted at because someone has upgrade problems and refuses to understand that its not the hosts fault.please bare this in mind the next time to feel like shouting at one of my hostie friends.
10.again this point is very important.
worlds has members as young as 13,these like most people want a nice looking avatar,so please be nice to a member who has a sexy looking avatar they may be very young.
However i have found that some members seem to think hosts are within worlds for other reason's.We are not within to worlds program to be abused,we are NOT on the worlds.com payroll,(which means we know nothing about the programmeing side of worlds only worlds employees know about that..(blue name tags))we are normal members of worlds who like to help people, so we GIVE our time FREELY to help other members and worlds.com.
The subject of muteing a host has now been solved,a host now CAN NOT be muted.
Passwords,Again an subject i personally feel is not covered enough on the worlds web site,(sorry guys @ worlds.com)if you are asked by another worlds member for your personal password,this is an offense,NO ONE (even a host) should ask for your worlds password,IF you are asked and you give your password to the other member then they CAN hack into your worlds programme and use your vip account,change your user name,user password,email address..etc,i do stress this to new members who do not know just what someone can do if they know your password.Again if you are the member asking for passwords,expect to have a host talk to you about this subject,although it doesn't say it is an offense is it wrong to ask for someone elses passwords.(i have known members who have been banned because they asked for worlds passwords)in my experience sadly it is usely non vips who ask for worlds passwords because they wish to use a vip account,but it is not common.
Hosts are on worlds to have fun like every other member,we like a good laugh, sometimes being a host is very stressfull, mainly because someone is continuously offensive, if you see someone you feel is being offensive but the host doesn't seem to be acting on it,please don't get abusive with the host,we do have set guildlines to follow,we have to decide weather a member needs talking to or weather they just said one thing slightly crude or rude,if the latter is the case then we can't remove them as this is unfair and wrong.however if it is the former, then often the host is in whisper to the offender asking them to please stop,(or sometimes this happens on the main whisper bar)if you are offensive to the host aswell,this doesn't help matters and you run the risk of being removed yourself,as hosts are not on worlds to take personal abuse,as again this is unfair to us.
Some members of worlds do not think hosts should be present on worlds and at times can be quite vocal about it,the main reason is simple,we are there to help the pengos,but being there for the younger worlds members is also extremly important.
worlds has members of all ages the lowest being age 13,so i would ask everyone to put yourselves in a parents possition for a few minutes.
you have a 13 year old daugther who likes to chat on worlds,who like everyone else has a nice looking avatar.,now would you be happy if someone was offensive with her,calling her abusive names being rude to her, harrassing her or being sexually suggestive to her..
At least with hosts on worlds she can report the offensive members name to the host and the host will deal with him/her and if needed 'remove' that members from worlds or if not needed just send in a report about this member being offensive with minors.
