CAST:

Stanbogan
Stanbogan is a tiny woman with well-shaped proportions and a pleasant smile. She has
long, soft, shiney light brown hair just silvering at the temples. Her large, brown eyes
(thinly outlined with velvet black kohl) seem to sparkle with enthusiasm as they
dominate the small features in her oval face.
Wide legged, green, work trousers with large outside pockets are held tightly to
Sta's
waist with a simple, bone button that closes over her loosely tucked, white tunic.
Her hair is tied loosely and tumbles over the flattened collar of her field clothes.
She wears the intricate emerald and white braided knot of Grinstead's steward.
She is an adult of about 37.

Tawl
You see a tall, well muscled young man before you. Tawl seems to have little or no body
fat whatsoever and has the healthy lightly tanned tough looking skin of a seafarer.
His eyes are a very deep brown and his auburn hair is cropped closely to his scalp.
His lower face splits into a toothy, inviting smile.
He is clean-shaven and appears to be a very sociable type.
Tawl is wearing a well fitting stained yet soft sleeveless leather tunic that ends
abruptly at his waist. He wears no shirt under his tunic as and wears long lightweight
canvas pants of an off-white colour over his strong lean legs. His large feet are bare:
probably because the salt of the ocean has toughened the soles of his feet and he
feels no need to cover them.
Tawl wears the green and white knot of Grinstead Hold
He is a teenager of about 17.

Field
The large, bushy topped oaks are all that is left after the mudslide which moved the
Towel Cothold and left only a huge, shaded, sandy field.
A temporary, low, simple fence has been added here.
A small herd of shaggy, curly-horned bovine wander around the field aimlessly nipping at
the ground or feeding and watering from the two, make-shift troughs. Apparently, they
are leaving the natural fertilizer for the grounds.
The crisp smell of autumn floats on the air.
It is an autumn.
You see Rak-ho here.
Obvious exits:
Grinstead Trail

Rak-ho
A long, wooden handle is attached to an instrument with heavy, metal prongs on one
side and a flat, level hoe on the other.

Tawl has joined grinstead.

--------------------------------Begin-------------

Tawl has arrived.
Tawl stretches his arms above his head and turns to you.

Stanbogan is checking one of the soft-haired bovine that wander the field.
"Well, I see you have gotten settled?"" her voice raises at the question.

Tawl is wearing a dark, dirtstained pair of canvas pants now and has some kind of balm on his face.
He says "Yes, I just had to change my pants and put some balm on. I'm ready to start."

From a huge pocket at her knee, Stanbogan (much like a traveling magician) pulls out
a simple, twisted braid of emerald and white with an exagerated flurish.
"Well, first things first." She grins.
"You have to be identified as a legitimate worker here." She hands you the new knot.
"This way our guard won't be trying to take you to the jail at Ista Hold.

Tawl says, "Though it would be entertaining attempting to outrun them."
Tawl dons his new knot.

Stanbogan looks a little suprised as she stands and steps away from the animal. "I doubt
that Jed would be too amused." She gives a nearly imperceptable wink. "He has been very
serious about his duties since he went to Tillek for guard training." She dusts off her
hands and starts to explain the work. "First thing we do with the field preperation is
make certain that the animals are fed, watered and well kept, especially since they are
on loan from our neighbors at Gar."

Tawl says, "I see. Is this where they are all kept?"

Stanbogan nods her head as she pats a grazing animal on the rump.
"Yes they are just eating and roaming in the fenced area here
until our sand is prepared for the new klah plants that are coming from Benden Hold."
Sta points to the combination rake and hoe that rests against the fence.
"...which is why I am out here and need the extra, daily
help to hoe and rake the area. Our second task after checking the animals is to work the sand."

Tawl nods slowly and walks towards the hoe leaning against the fence and says
"I'll follow your lead then. After that I should be ok to finish up."

You take Rak-ho.
Stanbogan stars to pull at the soil and then turn and level it again. "It works just like that!"
She looks at the re-smoothed surface with a chuckle. Adding, "It really isn't difficult.
It is just time consuming and takes me out of my office too much."
You drop Rak-ho.

Tawl picks up Rak-ho.
Tawl rakes at the soil nearby the newly levelled ground and turns it, then turning
the rak-ho on its side he smooths it back out again.
Tawl says, "How much of this do you need done" as he rakes the shaded soil again
and turns it over, spreading the raking over a larger patch before smoothing it all out.

Stanbogan nods her hair. "That looks good." Her tone is even and frienmdly. "I try to get
several sections covered a day, and then I wias planning to start over again. If you have
any problems, just let me know. OK? I really need to go pay some bills." She grins.

Tawl digs at a nearby rock with the ho and levers it out of the ground.
He continues turning the soil nearby and smoothing it out, placing stones
in a neat pile next to him.

Stanbogan sets aside her dust cloth and heads toward the gate.
"If you need me, I will be in my office, but I think that you have the idea."

Tawl shrugs and says "Thankyou - I'll call if I need you."

You hear the clank of metal as the fence-gate shuts behind you.
