Atomic Tomb (AT.wad) Brad "Vorpal" Spencer July 28, 2000 Boom-compatible port
This is a kinda cool, short level. Detail is good; texturing is mainly E1, plus some brown metal. Action is good, including a rather tough battle. Its open-ended, which is pretty cool as well. The new music by Mark Klem is good. 3.5/5

Untitled (AV46E1M7.wad)
Archvile46 November 3, 2002

Crashes jDoom, by the way. Apparently its supposed to be E1M7 of Freedoom. But STARG and its ilk seem to be the main texturing. I say seem because there is not enough fucking ammo and not enough fucking health in this level, and after attempting to knuckle-dust the fifth Imp with five health left I gave up.
Alright thats the original review. But I had to play through it again in
DOM so I might as well properly review it. Like I said, in the beginning theres not enough ammo. However eventually youll stumble upon an ammo cache which makes things much easier. Right. Level design is a hallway-computery area towards the northwest, and large ooze and catwalk area towards the middle I guess, and a maze that I could not figure out and had to noclip through. Its kinda fun otherwise, but due to that maze and the ammo situation, it gets a 3/5.

Black Mountain (BlackMnt.wad) Templar October 1, 2003
This WAD starts off in an outside area. Theres a pretty nice large-scale zombie fight, then it goes inside for a boring maze. It goes back outside again, with a big Caco fight and finally a Spidey fight. The big fights are kinda cool, but overall nothing special here.
3/5

Borax 4 (Borax4.wad)
Dennis Katsonis Friday, February 26, 1999 Boom-compatible
This is a pretty big base WAD, mainly E1 style. Architecture and detail is pretty good. Action is good, and tough in the beginning, though by the end youll have a lot of ammo. Eventually you might have some trouble figuring out what to do if you miss the blue door. The new MIDI is a cool melancholy song. Overall, its pretty fun, but runs a bit too long. 3.5/5

Canal Run v1.0
(CanalRun.wad) J.C. "SailorScout" Bengtson January 21st, 2000 Boom-compatible
As the author states this is a concept WAD, the concept being youre in a canal, with weapons and ammo and you being swept along by the current, trying to hunt down some Barons, while Cyberdemons fire at you. The new music, Rising form Castlevania III, is strangely fitting, though sadly theres a quiet stretch before it repeats. Its a kinda neat idea, but the Barons all got clumped around one corner when I played, and it got a bit boring. Try if youre bored or looking for something a bit different, I guess. 3/5

Compound 13 (Compnd13.wad)
Jonathan Stewart (Ob3kenob) December 30, 2003
This level consists of some boring interior areas on top of some boring mazy ooze sewers which dont hurt you and a boring courtyard, all with some boring texturing and some boring action. Pass. 2/5

Tower of the CyberDemons v1.0 (CybrTowr.wad) J.C. "SailorScout" Bengtson May 30, 1997 ZDoom
This level drops off in a somewhat small arena with a shitload of Cyberdemons. (On UV its twelve.) You get pretty well-stocked with ammo, and theres soulspheres and megaarmors laying around. Its definitely a challenge, but its not exactly fun; I gave up eventually. 3/5

E1M7: COMPUTER STATION (DBE1M7.wad)
Archvile46 November 5, 2002 ZDoom
This level is supposed to be inspired by E1M7, but heh damned if I know how. Its unlike the original in almost every aspect: Narrow hallways, sometimes low ceilings, outside panoramic views, little ooze, totally linear, and theres some Cacodemons. Timelessness was a far better remake. Though I suppose this isnt a remake. Anyway, on its own merits its an alright level, short, and kinda fun. Architecture and detail aint much, E1 texturing obviously. 3.5/5

DoomBoy E1M8 (DBE1M8.wad)
DoomBoy (Heh) October 2002 ZDoom
If youve ever wanted to play E1M8, only with shitty action, texturing, and architecture, then youre a freak. All normal people stay the fuck away. This level gets a 1/5 for fucking up one of the most memorable levels ever.

Dead Base 2.0 (DeadBs20.wad) Alberto Barsella, Owen "Sarge Baldy" Lloyd December 15, 2003 ZDoom
This is an update of Dead Base, a rather classic WAD. The update mainly adds a few HUD messages. The level is non-linear, filled with mainly empty, somewhat under-detailed and boring buildings. You set off with a lot of ammo at the start, so thats not a problem . . . plus I think SargeBaldy might have added in some ammo (and that clip spawner in the ship definitely wasnt in the original). Opposition is pretty light, but theres not too much health so dont goof off. Overall, kinda fun; maybe if youd like a little history lesson or something :P, or if you want to see the prequel to Mountain of Fire (or play it in conjunction), one of teh best WADs ever, in my opinion.
3/5

Death Lab (DethLab.wad)
Assphalt October 14, 2004 ZDoom
This is a short little level which is supposed to be a remake of another WAD. Dont see too many of those. Anyway its actually pretty fun. Tough, good architecture and detail, and it even has secrets which kick the players ass just for the Hell of it. My hero. :P Unfortunately I could not freaking find the blue key, though Im pretty sure I know where it is. I recommend just noclipping through the blue door. Other than that, a fun, short little WAD overall. 3.5/5

Doomed Once More
(DOM.wad) Will Hackney AKA Archvile46 August 15, 2003 Boom-compatible
Man, its been over a year since this was released, and I remember reading the freakin /newstuff review. Time sure flies. Well I kinda waited a . . .  heh month or so before writing this review so its gonna kinda suck. But as I recall the first two levels arent too bad, your standard levels really. But the third level is simply awesome. Its rather fun, and very realistic in design. (Its the supposed tp be the living quarters on Phobos. I think.) Very, very, very good level. The fourth is pretty cool as well, with pretty good design. The last isnt too bad, but since its not E1M8 it doesnt quite work right. Overall, pretty damn good level set; definitely try levels three and four. (. . . I think its those ones. Heh.) 4/5

No Quarter (DOME1M3.wad)
Will Hackney AKA Archvile46 May 10, 2002 Limit-removing
Quite simply one of the best levels Ive ever played. Taking place inside living quarters on Phobos, design is extremely realistic, new textures are used very well, action is good, tons of cool secrets . . .  This level pwns my soul. Play it!!!!! 6/5

Doom Revisited (DoomRev.wad)
Chris John Pisarczyk January 1999 Boom-compatible
This level set replaces E1M1-E3M4, without the secret levels. It replaces pretty much all of the music, including levels which werent replaced. For the most part its crappy and atmosphere-killing. E2M7 and E3M1-M3 arent too bad though. There are also new sounds, which are on the stupid side but dont suck enough to make you want to change them. Theres also some new graphics, which for the most part suck. He throws in the occasional random picture as a wall texture. Mhmm. So onto the levels. Theyre all smallish-medium sized, no more than 10 minutes each probably. E1 is, shockingly, E1 themed. Level design is kinda like Fava Beans, only not as good. E2 is made of somewhat open bases, kind of a cross between E2 and E3 in texturing. E3 is gothic marble and wood plus Hell. E1M5 and E2M7 arent too bad; the rest of the levels from E1 and E2 are skippable. E3 is pretty good (Id give it a 3.5/5), with the first three levels having atmospheric music and overall being pretty good. So, maybe download it for E3, but overall: 3/5.

Doom-X (part) (DoomX1-3.wad)
Jonathan Stewart (Ob3kenob) December 28, 2003 ZDoom or Boom
Level design in this set of four is on the unnecessarily big side. (And to be clear, I dont quite mean the levels are big, just that they have a LARGE amount of unnecessary and repetitive areas. The first one is big, empty, and not very good. The second is more detailed, but still has lots of frivolous/repetitive areas. The third one is actually pretty nice, 3.5/5 maybe, on the borderline of being too big but still fun overall. The fourth is more linear than the others but still overall not very fun. Action is easy for all of them. The first level kinda appealed to my nostalgia side; might wanna check it out for that. If you like somewhat-open ended design or kinda big levels you might wanna check it out too. And if youre kinda bored maybe level 3. But overall, 3/5.
