| Grimalkin Press is a small publishing and editing company run by writer and creative writing tutor Gerry Stewart. She has published books for the Ayrshire poet John Rodie, the Thornliebank Time Travellers, Barrhead Peoples Story Group and the Lochwinnoch Writers. Currently we have one book available Composition: Leaf Fall, Seeing by Touch the first collection from the artist collective Composition: Nalini Paul, Gerry Stewart and artist Frances Robertson. Through the process of laying-down of marks and words (charcoal on paper, ink on page), the book examines the artists relationships with all aspects of the Hidden Gardens in Glasgow and other natural places, including allotments, backyards and childhood haunts. Leaf Fall examines November, the time of death and renewal in nature, marked by Samhain (the old Celtic New Year), and All Hallows Eve (Halloween) or All Saints Day. Seeing by Touch is an exchange across mediums, examining nature through the senses, excluding that of sight. Francess line drawings, pinhole photographs and textured imagery perfectly complement Gerry and Nalinis poems. Text and illustration delve into past and present surroundings explored through touch, smell, taste and sound. Gerry is currently available to help groups edit, design and produce collections. |
