The Cathedral of the Resurgence of God is the center of the community of Windsheim, and in fact the reason it (Windsheim) even exists. It is reffered to throughout the region as simply "The Cathedral" and is a pilgrimage point for people in the area. The Order of the Resurgant God is a more open minded version of the old catholic church, that claims God is the creator of the cosomos and all D-Bee races. Magic is part of the wonder of God and is a force of nature. Demonic D-Bee's are the forces of Satan and the apocolypse was Gods punishment for the sin of pride that mankind took to extreme levels.

The church teaches that mankind lost the path of righteousness and turned from the word of god. Like the flood of Noah, the world was purged of the evildoers and made to reclaim itself. Unlike the older story, this time God opened the gates to Hell (Rifts) and left them open. These gates also opened to the other worlds that God has created offering mankind access to his other children to fight. Thus mankind will never again lose sight of Gods divine will. The church teaches that only through tolerance and acceptance of all of Gods creations will humanity and its allies defeat the hoardes of hell. The Lizardman community in the town are all strong believers in the church, as is the Lizardman Mage Grzz'at Murah.

The head of the church and the true leader of the community is Father Hadley O'Reily. He is in his late fifties and is a good man with a wide and kind heart. He oversees 18 other priests, some of whom travel the nearby lands spreading the word of God. Of the 12 who remain most are teachers who assist as either scholars in the town, or as overseers of the monestary. The Catherdral operates a monestary school of 50 children from across a wide area all attending for a religious education with the intention of becoming priest/priestesses. They include a wide mixture of races, but are predominatly human.

Sir Avery Rynolds heads the Templars of the Resurgence based in the west wing (cyberknights). There are 28 knights (men at arms) that are the security for the church as well as for the priests who travel the land. There are always at least 15 knights at The Cathedral at any one time, and Sir Rynolds himself rarely leaves. The cyberknights are trained in a remote undisclosed area of Montana and are assigned to The Cathedral by Lord Coake himself, grand master of the Order of the Cyberknights. Its been rumored for years that Father O'Reily and Lord Coake have a close relationship that predates the founding of either orders.

This gives Windsheim quite a bit more importance than your average community, though with as dangerous as travel is, only a few pilgrims manage to visit. Father O'Reily is a renowned faith healer and some will endure any hardship of travel to be able to receive the benefits of his abilities.

The Cathedral survived the Apocolypse of the Rifts in it's entirety. As if it were not a part of the community that had once surrounded it, it remailed unscathed by the destruction that the surrounding area had experienced over the hundreds of years until the community of Windsheim rebuilt around its' walls. The exterior gardens and statues around the monestary and seminary reclaimed their beauty from the touch of the human hand.

Even the stained glass windows remained intact.

Additionally the interior after being reclaimed and cleaned by the Church of the Resurgence of God appeared as if it had never been touched by the centuries.

The Coalition and The Church of God

The Church of God is a splinter group from the Church of the Resurgant God. Also based in Catholicism it has been adopted as the State Religion in the Coaltion Alliance, but is also practiced in many other areas of North America and the world. It parallels its parent religion in many ways, but difers dramatically in some theology, and is completly opposite in its politics. It teaches violent intolerance. ALL non-human beings are concidered to be either demons, or spawn of demons, alien invaders bent on the destruction of mankind and the acendancy of Satan. Magic is the power of Satan, not meant to be weilded by the righteous. As the Catholics of Old, the Bible is reserved for those Priests who "interpret" its writings for those who aren't trained in the ways of God (ie. Joseph Prosek's propaganda spindoctors). The Emperor Karl Prosek was appointed by God to lead mankinds glorius crusade against the hosts of Lucifer Lord of Lies (ironically). The men and women of the Coalition States are fed constantly with images of demonic beings destroying human towns, assisted by magic wielding humans or exotic D-Bees. They see Emperor Prosek and the army of the Coaltion as the only forces that stand between them and annihilation and are willing to endure incredible hardships to support them both.
