It will work correctly with most programs on Windows XP
although it is not 100% compatible and you may not be able to use it with all of your programs.

Above is an image of the program "Character Map"
This program comes with Windows. You can start the program by clicking on your Windows START button
then click on "Programs" then click on "Accessories" then click on "System Tools"
then click on "Character Map".  In this program you can select different fonts that you have on your computer and by clicking on one of the characters (letters, numbers, symbols, hearts, etc..) that fills the little boxes, down in the lower right hand corner you will see the Keystroke that must be typed to be able to type out that character.
For example, in my Country Charm Font above,  when you click on the copyright symbol, you'll see that the keystroke needed is Alt + 0169. To do this, hold down the Alt key on your keyboard with your left hand and while continuing to hold it down, with your right hand type 0169 on the number pad of your keyboard (not the numbers that are above all the letters but the ones usually found on the right hand side of the keyboard) Then let go of the Alt key and the copyright symbol will be typed. If you want to type a heart using my Country Charm Font, you can choose from many keystrokes but in the example above I have Alt+0200 Selected. Do this the same way you made the copyright symbol type... Holding down the Alt key, type 0200 and then let go of the Alt key and a heart will be typed.
