| Belle Vue Hotel Llanwrtyd, Wells, Powys, Wales |
| Modern-day Belle Vue Hotel |
| Belle Vue Hotel (The Square, Powys) (01591) 610237. In this town there are only three things; cyclists, walkers and beer drinkers. The pub is across the road form the Neuadd Arms Hotel though doesn't take part officially in the twice yearly beer festivals. Inside the pub part is remarkably like a 1970's house, with glass partitions and decor. There is one bar 'L' shaped with a pool table in one corner plus a TV screen showing sport. The bar is 'dry stone walled' - with cement and horse brasses. Round the other side is the food hatch area, plus an eating area through some doors (here is where the festival is held). The seating is tables and chairs on dark carpet. Ordinary beers come from Brains brewery. Food choice is varied, and there is a vegetarian section on the menu. Prices are around 5.50. Outside there are tables for summer drinking. There is accommodation en-suite from 18-21 per person. Tents (bring your own) with breakfast included is 5. The hotel does special group weekends for walking, riding, etc. Call for prices. Access for the disabled is reasonable. The BR station is not far away. | The song you hear another version of: "Hen Wlad fy Nhadau" (Land of my Fathers) The Welsh National Anthem I found different lyrics also: O land of my fathers, O land of my love, Dear mother of minstrels who kindle and move, And hero on hero, who at honour's proud call, For freedom their lifeblood let fall. Chorus: Wales! Wales! O but my heart is with you! And long as the sea Your bulwark shall be, To Cymru my heart shall be true. 2. O land of the mountains, the bard's paradise, Whose precipice, valleys lone as the skies, Green murmuring forest, far echoing flood Fire the fancy and quicken the blood. Chorus: 3. For tho' the fierce foeman has ravaged your realm, The old speech of Cymru he cannot o'erwhelm, Our passionate poets to silence command Or banish the harp from your strand. Chorus: |

| St. David is the patron saint of Wales. Welshmen celebrate St. David's Day on March 1. St. David's Church stands on a site chosen by St. David himself in 511 A.D. and there has been a church there ever since. The present church dates from the 12th century. It's located at Llanwrtyd Wells, same as the Belle Vue. |
