Daniel Lawrence Griffith was born in Jasonville, Indiana on August 24,1923.  He spent his boyhood years in Jasonville and attended the Jasonville Schools.  Dan was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and served overseas in the Pacific Campaign.

While stationed at Ft. Dupont, near Wilmington, Delaware, Dan met and married Miss Ida Hicken, of Wilmington. Their first child, a daughter, whom they named Donna Marlene, was born in 1945, in Wilmington.

After his discharge from the military the couple made their home first in Wilmington and then moved to Jasonville where Dan went to work for his father in the family electrical business.

They returned to Wilmington, in 1948, where Dan was hired by the Dupont Company.  Their second child Daniel Lawrence Jr. was born in Wilmington, in 1951.

Dan became an electrician for the Dupont Company, and was with them until his retirement in 1991.

The couple purchased property in Jasonville, and planned to spend their retirement years here. However, both Ida, and their son Daniel, died before this happened.

Dan spent several years in Jasonville, before his health deteriorated to a point where his daughter, Donna, moved him back to Delaware with her, until his death on January 14, 2005. He was brought home to Jasonville for his funeral and buried beside his parents at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
