Griffin @ Tricities
Another year, another broken record.
The Rifle Team defeated Tri-cities High School 1108-723 win, setting a new school record for season opener. "This is the first time a Griffin team has opened the season with a score so high," said team captain Jeremy Moore, "and most of the team was complaining about how bad they shot."
That was not the case with Junior Barry Oliver (co-captain), who not only shot his personal best, but also broke the team record for highest individual opening score. His 286 (including a near perfect 99 in prone and 97 in kneeling) led the way for the Griffin win. Oliver also qualified for the Georgia High School Association State Final competition to be held in April.
Moore, who has been recovering from the flu, still managed to post a 281 to support the team in their effort. Roderick Foster, freshman, is another in a line of freshman to start for Griffin. Posting a 277, he shot the highest a freshman has ever opened the season with. Junior Jimmy Crawford has been working hard to make varsity team, and opened the season with a personal best of 264. Sophmore Jessica McClain (co-captain) was the fifth starter and and posted another Griffin anchoring score.
