THE SALMON:

The salmon is depicted as a sacred creature primarily in Celtic and Norse cultures. It was especially sacred to the Celts and figures in several of their myths.
Usually the inhabitant of a sacred well, the salmon was eaten or consulted for wisdom and prophecy. This fish was also a creature of the Celtic god Nodens.
Scandanavian stories tell of the trouble-maker, Loki, changing himself into a salmon when he tried to escape from Thorr after he had caused much commotion and upset at a gathering of the gods.
