THE OSTRICH:The Semitic and Babylonian cultures considered the ostrich to be a demon, evil, and connected with the Dark Goddess Tiamat. The Arabs still regard it as a stupid bird, whose form can be unsurped by a djinn. However, in ancient Egypt the ostrich had great spiritual and religious significance. An ostrich feather symbolized the goddess Maat, deity of truth and justice; the heart of the deceased was weighed for truth against Maat's feather in the Judgement Hall of Osiris. Those who past the test went into Osiris's presence; those who failed were cast into the Netherworld of darkness. The ostrich feather was also an emblem of the goddess Amenti and the god Shu. The Kung Bushmen of Africa said that the eggs of this bird had supernatural power, and they performed ritual ostrich dances to honor it. An ostrich dance was performed by several South American peoples to keep the dead from causing harm. SuperstitionsContrary to folk legends, the ostrich doesn't bury its head in the sand.Magickal Attributes듼Ķ>Srialruth
