THE BLACKBIRD:In Greek stories, the blackbird and the thrush are often mentioned together. Although the Greeks considered the blackbird to be a destructive bird (probably because of its black color), they said it was sacred to the gods because of its sweet song. Welsh legend says that the birds of the goddess Rhiannon were three blackbirds; they sat in the World Tree of the Otherworlds. These birds could sing any human into a sleep or trance.
