My Day at The Van's Warped Tour 2003

Sited at the Smirnoff Music Centre in Dallas, it was supposed to be the most spectacular festival to ever hit fair grounds. Bands like, Bowling For Soup, The Used, Rancid, Simple Plan and the Ataris were scheduled to be there. Of course...I was pshyced.

Our first stop was at a show were a band called the Broadcast was playing. They are a local band from the Dallas area, so of course...the crowd had a few adoring fans in it. The next band we saw was called
DV8. This had to be one of the best shows we saw all day. The band was composed of three members...ages 11, 13 and 14. They had an upbeat show composed of cute juvenile jokes and fun mosh songs. I highly recommend listening to this group, or paying a visit to thier site. Thier show was amazing, and to see kids with this kind of talent was astounding. To listen to them click HERE, to see pictures click HERE, and to visit thier site, click HERE.

Next we paid a visit to one of my favorite bands' booth. Matchbook Romance. I saw that they were having a signing at 4:00 that day....WOO HOO! I actually got to shake thier hands, give them a hug...and of course get their autographs.  To see pictures...click

Bowling for soup, a band from Denton, Texas had the largest crowd and the most energetic show. They entertained the crowd with jokes and a song called "in between song surfing". I really enjoyed thier parodies of avril lavigne and justin timberlake, they made a comment about justin timberlake's sexual preferences that got a loud agreement from the crowd. He he.

Lastly, was the show I had been waiting for all day.
Matchbook Romance. It was well worth the wait through a long hot day. They played new songs from thier forthcoming album (due out in September) and also songs from thier EP, West For Wishing. It was the best show I saw all day. To see pics, click HERE. To visit thier website click HERE.

Although it was intensley hot, (104 degrees) and a  tad bit scary at times, it was well worth it. Check out the van's warped tour site at
