Poi
So, where to begin? on a brief history bit, Poi is a Maori dance form, which consits of a weight at the end of a cord, for each hand, which are spun. The skill comes from spinning them without getting them tangled, which when you watch some of the moves, is really very hard to do.
I started to get into Poi, thanks to my surrogate sister, Sarah. She and Rob, my surrogate brother-in-law, are both into kites, and if I remember rightly it was through the kiting scene that Sarah started to work with Poi.
A while later, while at a friends birthday picnic, I had a bit of a play with them, decided I liked them, and then got a set of my own. This was around the beginning of July. A fortnight later, I bought my own Kiwido poi.

A month later I went for the hard-core version, buying the fire poi, which are kevla strapping bound into a wad, which you swing on steel cords, ahving soaked them in paraffin

A world of spinning firy fun!
