Theme:

Montu is in the Egyptian section of the park. The theming is great. The scenery around the ride goes along perfectly. There are lots of stone walls and tunnels. There are mostly palm trees in Montu's area.

Debut:

Montu opened May 16, 1996 as one of the largest inverted coasters in the world. It is one of two B & M coasters featuring the batwing.

Structure:

Montu's track is dark blue with tannish white supports. The train is black with multi-colored wheel covers featuring a bird. The seats are ski-lift style, the track is above the riders, and the riders' feet dangle. The seats are blue with yellow restraints. Most of Montu is above ground, but there are a few tunnels throughout the ride.

Special Features:

Montu is one of two B & M coasters featuring the batwing. There are several short tunnels located throughout the ride. There is an immelman loop (half loop, half corkscrew) which is the reverse of a dive loop.

Inversions:

First is a vertical loop. Then there is a immelman loop (half loop, half corkscrew). That's followed by a weightless, zero-g barrel roll. After that is the batwing (2 inversions). The batwing is a half corkscrew, half loop, half loop, half corkscrew combination. It sends you out the same direction you came in. Then comes the second vertical loop. This is followed by a wing-over (corkscerw on inverted B & M coasters).
