Theme:Kumba is an African name. It goes along with the African, Tropical, and Safari style theming of the park. There are lots tropical trees like palm trees and large grassy areas that add to the tropical effect. |
Debut:Kumba opened on April 20, 1993. Kumba was B & M's very first sit-down coaster. It caused an explosion in the coaster industry. |
Structure:Kumba's track is light blue with red supports. The train is yellow with Busch Gardens written on the front in red. The seats are sit-down style and open-sided and are black with light blue restraints. Most of Kumba is above ground, but there is one tunnel near the end. |
Special Features:Kumba is B & M's first sit-down type roller coaters. The vertical loop goes over the lift hill. There are interlocking corkscrews just before the tunnel near the end of the ride. There is a large helix immediately after the tunnel. |
Inversions:First is a vertical loop. Then there is a dive loop (half corkscrew, half loop). That's followed by a weightless, zero-g barrel roll. After that is a cobra roll (boomerang - 2 inversions). Then comes the final two inversions, the interlocking corkscrews. |
