Theme:

Kraken is a massive, mythological underwater beast kept caged by Posiedon and rises from the depths of the sea as the tallest, fastest, longest, and wildest roller coaster in the southeast!

The ride itself is extremely well themed too. As you go through the queue (line), there are ancient drawings and of Kraken and stories of people lost to Kraken.

Debut:

Although a few brave riders got to ride Kraken before June, it officially made its grand opening in June, 2000. It is the second thrill ride at Sea World Orlando. The first was the water coaster Journey to Atlantis, which sits right next to Kraken.

Structure:

Kraken's track is teal with tan supports. The seats are floorless and open-sided and are teal with blue restraints. Most of Kraken is above ground, but there are three subterranean dives.

Special Features:

Kraken is one of the first "floorless" type roller coaters. The track is below the train but the cars have no floor. The riders' feet dangle just feet above the track. The ride includes three subterranean dives. One of which goes full speed through the Kraken's lair!

Inversions:

First is a vertical loop. Then there is a dive loop (half corkscrew, half loop). That's followed by a weightless, zero-g barrel roll. After that is a cobra roll (boomerang - 2 inversions). Then comes another vertical. This is closely followed by the final inversion, a flat spin (corkscrew)
