Grey Water Reuse Around Homes and Soil Quality in Western Sydney Region

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Pinto Uthpala, an honours student at University Of Western Sydney Hawkesbury. As a part of my honours project, I am conducting a study titled Grey water reuse around homes and soil quality in Western Sydney Region The project commenced in the first week of August and expected to complete by April 2008.

Im seeking help from people in Western Sydney to participate in this survey to understand peoples views and experiences about the use of grey water for irrigation around homes. Grey water includes waste water from kitchen, laundry and bathroom.

The survey will take about 10-15 minutes of your time and contains some simple questions relating to different aspects of water recycling and grey water reuse around homes.

Please note that none of your personal details will be collected unless you agree to do so. If you are 18 years of age or above you may participate in this survey. If you decide not to take part in this survey at any stage, you are free to do so.

If you are already using grey water and are concerned about the health of your garden soil or long-term impact of grey water use on the soil, we are happy to test soil from your garden area free of charge as part of this study. Please let me know using the contact details provided at the end of the survey. We will then make arrangement with you for collecting a soil sample (about 500g of soil) from you home site for the laboratory analysis.

Also, if you would like to receive a copy of the survey outcomes, please contact me using the contact details provided at the end of the survey.

Your answers are important to the accuracy and success of this project, whether or not you use grey water for irrigation. Thank you for your help in my honours research project through participating in this survey.

Any queries regarding the study may be forwarded to,
