| NEW 16" GTA Rims | ||||||||||||||||
| In mid July, I happened to read an ad in the paper for a 1989 Pontiac T/A being parted out locally. So I called up the owner and found out that the GTA rims where still on the car and that they were in decent condition. So after looking at them, I handed the money over and hauled the rims home. | ||||||||||||||||
| RIGHT: As you can see, the GTA's were originally gold. Yuck! After a serious cleaning, I ended up spraying them with automotive paint out of a rattle-can. I put on several coats of paint, partly because these wheels are a pain to get completely covered in paint!!! As you can see below, they didnt turn out bad at all, and the dark grey looks great on the car. Everyone thought I was nuts for painting them grey vs. black. Looks good to me. | ||||||||||||||||
| LEFT: This is a picture of the front GTA's. I ended up having to run a 7/16" spacer up front because of the different offsets on the wheels. Dont worry, I got some special lug nuts for the front that have a shank on them which reach down through the lug nut holes on the wheels. This allowed me to get about 9 turns on the lug nuts vs the 3 I was getting with the normal lug nuts. The tires pictured here are the old front tires off of my Grand National. They are Sumitomo 245/50R16s. | ||||||||||||||||
| RIGHT: This is a picture of the rear GTA's. Since I really didnt have a lot of money to spend, I ended up putting a free pair of used tires on the rears. They are Embassy 255/50R16. They are long since replaced with some really nice Bridgestone Potenza RE750s. They are awesome tires. | ||||||||||||||||
