Television is a double edge sword. Up to a point it can be a source of information, a window into other worlds, and a pleasantly distracting entertainment.  Past that point it begins to take on a power of its own by diminishing the power of others.  It weakens the mind, serving it images and plots and stores on a squared platter so that our most vital muscle and resource begins to atrophy from lack of use.  The less we use our mind, the harder it becomes to do so and the easier it is to succumb to the numbing siren's song of easy entertainment ... even when it's not all that entertaining anymore.
