Whoo hoo, summer begins! I officially finished my last school assignment on Friday when I walked out of the daycare doors at 5:00. It's a little strange to think that I'm done school since I've been going to one school or another since I was five years old. It's also very cool because it means that I can move on to new challenges. I've put in my application to the local school board and am now waiting to see if I'm one of the lucky ones who gets a call at the end of this month to come in for an interview. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders now that I've completed everything that I set out to do five years ago when I walked through the doors of the university five years ago.
This is also the end of a large excuse that I've had to put off some of the more important things in my life, like some aspects of my service to God. I'm excited about getting that part of my life in order and get back to doing the things that I should be, like my daily bible reading, regular personal study, field service, all of the great provisions that we're blessed to have even though the pace of life today may have us taking these for granted. I was thinking the other day and it occured to me that I don't want to be standing in the new system and wondering how to answer it when someone asked me why on earth I wouldn't have taken full advantage of this once ever privilege of inviting people to follow Jehovah God and helping them to gain the immense gift of everlasting life (assuming I get there in the first place that is, heh).
My zoo continues to grow and this break from school will also give me the opportunity to get into a solid routine with them. The dog is getting older and while he's content to sleep all day, he's happy when he's getting out and about to see people and places. The lizards are growing more every day and need interaction with people so that they'll be stimulated and used to being handled. The cat, well he pretty much takes care of himself but he still appreciates the occassional petting or brushing. Then there are the fishtanks that need to be cleaned and that I enjoy fiddling around with. I've always said that it doesn't matter how much you love your creatures if you don't take care of them properly. Unlike us, they only have this short time on earth to live and it's our responsibility to make sure that this time is a pleasant one for them.
