I was camping on an island in the Rhone River by Avignon waiting for a couple of friends to train in with their bikes. I was there several days and did a number of day loops. One of the day trips was to visit the high fortress village of les Baux. There are two or three ways up and all of them involve a stiff climb but the experience of arriving at the gates of les Baux under your own steam is worth it.
