Explanation:
This poem was actually a series of conversations I had on AOL Instant Messenger with several individuals. I was very weary of the monotony of school and had become very sick of the repetition of test, quiz, homework, study, project, test, quiz, homework, study, project...it just became too much. It had caused me to become rather depressed and I felt myself becoming darker and more jaded everyday. This darker side I realized was simply a mask...another persona that was disrupting who I was. This poem is a song of vindication because I had decided to overcome what was holding me down. The final lines are a resolve of what I will do to destroy this facade that has taken over and the last 2 lines are what will happen as a result. First the specter of darkness will dissappear and secondly it will ultimately change who I seem to be, killing off the old and being reborn through what is termed "a renewing of the mind."
