| Explanation: One of the hardest poems to construct in respect to beats and flow. This was a work that took me about 3 or 4 months to develope entirely. It deals with the flow of life in a cycle, like a beat that drives a song or the firing of an engine that moves the vehicle. I want people to think to themselves and remember a time when they fealt on top of the world...like everything was going their way. For example: like after completing a difficult test and knowing you did well, or getting that phone call from a friend with really good news, or hearing that something you were worried about is no longer a problem. You feel a surge of power, a moment of entitlement, a sense of being in tune with life and master of it. I desired an effect of people visualizing tapping their feet to a silent beat that ran through the subconscience. The breaks built into the poem are designed to create a heartbeat style pattern of sound. LUB DUB...and its interesting that each person reads this in a different speed which is funny in that it shows how our own hearts each step to a unique rhythm. |
