Caring
for Young Families - Whanau Awhina
CHILD SAFETY: a guide for parents.
Did you know that in New Zealand, 13,000 children under five years of age are hospitalised each year because of injuries and poisoning? Many of these admissions are avoidable.
PRE-NATAL CAR SAFETY
Always wear your seat belt when pregnant. Investigate infant car restraints. Do you want to hire a seat or buy? If you want to hire a seat, phone Plunket on 378-4565. If you decide to purchase a seat, check it fits well in your car. You will also need to decide whether you want an infant seat for use during the first six months, or one that caters from 0 - 4 years.
Now is also the time to discuss with future carers of your child (e.g. grandparents and friends), the fact that your baby is to be in an approved infant seat at all times when travelling in their car.
