CHILD SAFETY: a guide for parents.

Did you know that in New Zealand, 13,000 children under five years of age are hospitalised each year because of injuries and poisoning? Many of these admissions are avoidable.

BURNS- 3 to 5 years old

At this age, you can teach your child to recognise the hot and cold taps by colour and to only turn on the cold tap. Ensure your hot tap water temperature is not more than 50 degrees C.

Dress your child in close-fitting nightwear.
