A Michigan City couple who have been foster parents to 177 children 21 years are searching for their adopted son. Sandy Dingman said her son, Jeremy is now 31, walked away from Logansport State Hospital after a disagreement with hospital personnel on September 15, 2004. They visit him once a month. They adopted Jeremy 21 years ago and they are well aware of his tendency to run away. Although he is 31, he has the mental age of a 10 year old. He has poor impulse control also and when his brain tells him to take off, he does.
They placed him at Logansport for his own safety. Jeremy had suffered brain damage as a result of pre-natal exposure before his birth. He is 5'10 and has very short strawberry blond hair. They are worried now that it getting colder, he going to be looking for warm clothing and food and somewhere to sleep. He is not violent, but he does need to be on his medication.
