Cold Cases
Rhea Green
Thirty year old Rhea wasn't very big, just five feet, three inches tall and only a hundred pounds.  She was real friendly, she thought everyone was he friend.  She was with a friend, walking down Prater Road, December 12, 1997, when an oncoming truck hit her, ending her life.  Detective Tracy Morgan with Louisiana State Police say, she was walking northbound, in front of her boyfriend.  He was pushing a bicycle, the vehicle came south, struck the bicycle, and then struck her, throwing her into the west ditch.

The crash happened at night when Prater Road is very dark.  In fact there is only one light in that area and detectives say they aren't even sure it was working that night.  However, they say there were no skid marks on the road where it looked like the driver even tried to stop or slow down.

They would know that they hit someone because of the damage to their vehicle.  They found part of the vehicle on the road, a headlight, and parts of paint chippings.

Detectives say two white men in a late 70's or early 80's blue pickup truck approached several people on the street, just before Rhea was killed.  They believe this was the vehicle that struck her, however after following up on countless leads, they still don't know who was driving.

If anyone, any kind of repair shop fixed a vehicle during that time frame, the damage is probably going to be to the front of the vehicle, maybe the front right light fixture, or if anyone purchased a vehicle or saw a vehicle that night, we would appreciate information they say.

Detectives say the man driving the truck, and his passenger, that killed Rhea were both in their 20's or 30's.  Anyone with information that could help identify them should call 491-2511.
Nelda Hardwick
There is a face missing from the family gathering, because Nelda is simply missing.  On October 14, 1993, Nelda dissappeared from a home on 18th Street in Lake Charles, Lousiana.  Nelda had been at home with her boyfriend and her children.  The children were bathed and put to bed.  The boyfriend went to bed as well and when he woke up the next morning he found a note saying she was going to the store and she would be right back and she's never returned to the house.

They are hoping that someone will recognize her picture, or someone may know what happened to her on that night.  Detectives believe that foul play was involved in Nelda's disappearance.  If you have information that might help solve this case please call" 491-3719
Who Killed Jamey Walker
On Friday night, 23 years ago Jamey Walker was enjoying the final hours of her life.  She was close to the perfect teenager, an honor student, cheerleader, prom queen, deeply religious and by all accounts, a good girl, who, like her mother campaigned for civil rights and helped the less fortunate.

On the night of May 8, 1981, Jamey returned from a date to the home where she lived with her mother.  A few hours later, someone came into the home and forced Jamey to leave without even putting shoes on.  Early Saturday morning, a ransom call was made to the People's Choice, once a popular nightspot on a now vacant corner.  The called demanded $75,000 from Jamey's father, or else.  Over the next several hours there were othe phone calls, including a message from Jamey that her mother shouldn't worry.  The kidnappers called again and said Jamey would be released, but on the morning of Sunday the 10th, hikers found a battered body in the Las Vegas wash.  Jamey had been thrown over the side, only to crash on the rocks far below.

The autopsy showed there was tremendous amount of internal damage, but they aren't sure how much was from the fall or how much might have been from somebody beating her.  Jamey's kidnappers may have been after durg money, detectives say, because there were persistent reports that some members of the Walker family were trafficking.  One person on interest is Willie the Cannon Shannon, a former professional boxer with a four page rap sheet of violent crimes.

Police say there may have been a woman who helped the kidnappers gain entrance to the Walker home.  They are hoping that someone involved in the crime may have confessed to someone else.  If you have information in the case please call:  Crime Stoppers at 385-555 or Metro Homicide at: 229-3521
