It's possible that the death occurred one or more years prior to discovery.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of an
unidentified woman found decomposed in the Mark Twain National Forest northeast of Dora.  An autopsy showed the woman was about 5'9, with brownish blond to brown hair, could have been between 30-60 years old and weighted 150-170lbs.  She also appeared to have had knee surgery shortly before her death, estimated three to five weeks ago.  The cause of death was undetermined Friday.
