It is important to cleanse your ritual area or sacred space but I would start with an overall CLEANING of the room/area. Start at the top, get up on a ladder and take the globe of the light fixture down, wash it. Dust the lightbulbs. Dry the globe and replace it. Now look the the ceiling, are there cobwebs in the corners? Get rid of them. Take a close look at the walls, if they need to be washed then grab a rag and a cleaning product and wash them. Better yet, mop them, it is much easier. Dust/clean all the pictures or artwork on the walls. Clean the windowsills and the windows while you are at it. If you have blinds up in this room, make sure to dust them, if not make sure that you remove any cobwebs under the curtains. If you have furniture in here, make sure to clean the legs and underneath of it, vaccum lampshades, and cushions. Now grab a rag and a bucket of hot soapy water and scrub those baseboards. If you have carpet in here be sure to edge it with the edging attachment of the vaccum, before you vaccum the whole area. If not this time you may want to scrub the floor on your hands and knees. Now to the fun part, the magickal additions to aid in transformation of this space. Start with a new vaccum bag, to be used only for the cleansing purposes of this room, you may empower and add crystals or stones, essential oils, etc. and charge the bag under sunlight or moonlight. You may smudge the area (I would do this before the vaccuming). You may employ bells to allow the vibrations of the room to aid in the cleansing. You can empower your cleaning product of choice with sun/moon energies, or add herbs to them. You can scrub the room with a magickal floorwash (not only the floor, but the woodwork and doors as well). Salt makes a great scouring powder as does baking soda if you want to use the natural products. Vinegar is excellent for windows, mirrors and glass. From this point you may now proceed with the cleansing ritual of your choice. Or you may choose to first employ geomancy/feng shui and set the room up to suit you, then cleanse. For some cleansing the room with magick will entail a full ritual, for others it can be done during the cleaning phase. This is a matter of preference, there is no "one true way" to do it. Think about what makes you feel close to deity and go with that. If the color green is scarce around where you live add some into your room if you like. If you like the feeling you get from looking at posters of islands, etc. hang a few. This is YOUR space and needs to suit only you. Make it a place that lifts your spirits each time you open the door and smell the fragrance. |
