This is a simple way to harness your energy and call in the element of fire to your spell. I was taught not to blow out the flame as it is considered to be rude, and use a candle snuffer or my athame blade.
Cleanse and consecrate the candle . Dress it with an oil corresponding to your intent . During a ritual working you may use the energy raising to help focus your "charge" to the candle, but for a simple spell I call upon mother earth by imagining a stream of love and light coming from the ground and flowing through my body, to my arms and straight into the candle.
