The man they call GRENDEL, also known by his birth name Chris Jerome grew up in southern Arkansas and was raised by his mother. He did not know his birth father, and was told by his mother that he was dead. He started out in the world of wrestling back in 1995, when Chris was a senior in high school. An independent wrestling promotion came to town and put on a show at the high school gym. The big name draw for the show was none other than the Junkyard Dog. In a chance meeting, JYD and Chris struck up a friendship after the show. Seeing what an amazing athlete Chris was, JYD told him he should think about wrestling. Being a star football player Chris was in amazing shape. Chris had watched wrestling as a kid, and went to many matches in Memphis with his grandpa. A kid fresh out of high school, he dreamed of bigger and better things, so he went on to pursue a career in the wrestling business.

Chris was turned down by many wrestling promotions, until he stumbled into the Real Deal Wrestling Federation, where he was given a chance. He went by the name of The Crippler Chris Jerome during his matches. He was learning the ropes and having the time of his life. He loved every minute of the action and won several matches. Even teaming with a wrestler known as Justice. Jerome and Justice went on to win the RDWF tag team championship. His popularity grew not only with the fans but with other wrestling promotions.

A rival promotion of the RDWF, called the International Wrestling Association gave Chris a call, and wanted him to give him a try out. The IWA wanted to go in a completely different direction with Chris character. So Chris put on a mask and became the Confederate Rebel. The IWA paired him with another wrestler by the name of Stonewall, thus the tag team called Knights of the Confederacy was born. They went on to win the Southern Tag Team Championship. He eventually went on to win the IWAs World title only to vacate it the next day. Chris was tired of management and was getting tired of wrestling under a mask. Chris wanted to move on to bigger and better things.

A new startup promotion by the name of NEW Extreme Wrestling caught his eye. He shed the Confederate Rebel gimmick. NEW owner Steve Reaves or as some would later call him OMR (Old Man Reaves) sat down with Chris and the two came up with The Man They Call GRENDEL gimmick. Since Chris was a monster of a man, they thought that name would fit. He started out in NEW as a monster heel and was pushed to main event status, winning his first NEW World title in only a few short months. GRENDEL went on to be the first man in NEWs history to win that championship a total of four times. GRENDEL wrestled in many big matches for the company and stayed with NEW through several leadership changes, even bringing in his close high school buddy AJ to run things for a while. Which was a bad move for NEW. GRENDEL was on the side lines with a back injury while AJ ran the company in the ground. Rumors say that AJ embezzled money from the company, but GRENDEL doesnt know if thats true or not. After his back injury healed GRENDEL wanted to come back to NEW and try to revive it. But after seeing that there was no saving the sinking ship, he called up Shawn Stryker, with whom he was friends with before NEW closed.

Shawn Stryker or SBK as he is called had jumped ship to World Pro Wrestling, long before NEW shut down. SBK knew what AJ was doing to the company and didnt want to be any part of it, so he vacated the title and went on to WpW. GRENDEL gave his old buddy a call, and Shawn gave GRENDEL the number to WpW. Thus GRENDEL signed a contract with WpW. Even thought SBK and GRENDEL are in the same company, they haven't been as friendly as one might expect. GRENDEL brought in AJ to be his manager in WpW and SBK knew that was the wrong move for the big man. And wanting nothing to do with AJ, SBK stayed his distance from GRENDEL. Slowly but surely GRENDEL is seeing the light about his manager. But GRENDEL is torn between getting rid of AJ or keeping him as his manager. GRENDEL and his long time wife Torrie filed for divorce when GRENDEL found out that AJ and Torrie were having an affair. Now that GRENDEL and AJ have parted ways, GRENDEL has a renewed focus on his life and his wrestling career. In only a few short months in WpW GRENDEL has gone 5 and 0 is the number one contender for the WpW World Heavyweight Championship. GRENDEL continues to be one of the top draws for the company. While the WpW is taking a break because of personal reasons that the owner has to take care of, GRENDEL and his new girlfriend Lisa-Ann have signed a contract with Crimson Mask Wrestling.

While still having contiuned sucess in WpW GRENDEL was offered a contract with the CMW (Crimson Mask Wrestling). GRENDEL is having to work his way up the ladder in CMW, but is off to a good start with two wins under his belt. But before his first ever match in CMW GRENDEL had a chance meeting with a person who would change his life forever. Johnny Pelf, brother in law of CMW wrestler Falcon, called GRENDEL up and told him some shocking news. Johnny told GRENDEL that he had proof that his father was alive and that GRENDEL and Falcon were really half brothers. GRENDEL's father Bud Sinclair even showed up at a taping of CMW Juiced to confront GRENDEL and talk. But GRENDEL didn't want any part of it. CMW has since closed it's doors and after a few months of much deserved rest and relaxtion, GRENDEL was contacted by WpW and CEO Lilly about a return to WpW.

The WpW has since reopened it's doors with a bang. Their first show back was the Roy Lee Rumble pay per view where GRENDEL was part of the main event as he took on The Striken for the WpW World title. Though he lost that battle the war for the World title is far from over. GRENDEL's father has been trying to get in contact with GRENDEL since he resigned with WpW, but the two have yet to talk. Will father and son ever rebuild the bridge that was burned so long ago, only time will tell. GRENDEL and his father have become good friends now, and GRENDEL even looks to him every once in a while for some advice in and out of the ring.

GRENDEL finally realized his goal of become champion in the WpW by defeating Reynaldo Sanchez and Chris Bennett for the Big Gold title at Wrestival II on May 29th, 2005. The very next GoldPush he confronted his friend and newly crowned Continential Champion PDJ. The two have never faced off against each other in a WpW ring before so they decided to have a friendly match to see which champion was better. But before the two faced off they decided to let each other pick their opponents for the next GoldPush. GRENDEL picked Donnovan Midas to face PDJ, while PDJ picked Chris Phillips to take on GRENDEL. The next week at GoldPush both PDJ and GRENDEL successfully defeated each others hand picked opponents. But after GRENDEL's match, the oWo came out and brutally attacked him and sprayed painted the oWo letters on the Big Gold title. Backstage GRENDEL was furious until PDJ steppped in to help calm him down. Shawn Stryker even joined in and offered to be special ref for the PDJ vs. GRENDEL match to make sure the oWo doesn't get involved somehow. But the biggest shocker of them all came at the end of the night when the oWo announced their newest member in Shawn Stryker. How will this affect PDJ vs. GRENDEL at Heatwave? Stay tuned to find out.
