Trixie and her owner Sister Marika live together in London, England. Trixie is a certified Hearing Dog. She was the first Chinese crested Hearing Dog that Clyde and I had heard of. "Chinese Crested are the most wonderful companion dogs as well as 'ears' that you can wish for". Trixie is the first successful one in the UK, and there have been others since. Sr Marika is profoundly deaf, she has had Trixie for over 5 years. Trix understands about 250 words/commands/phrases signed, spoken, she can also lipread a bit, and understand some fingerspelling (which she DID NOT teach her!). Trixie is a Chinese Crested cross Japanese Chin. Sr Marika has major allergy problems and could not have any other kind of dog. She even has reactions to powder-puffs. Sr Marika says "This breed is a people-devoted dog, and you will find that yours will do anything to please and be a life saver too. It's the best way to wake up in the morning with your dog tapping you on the shoulder to alert you to the alarm. If I carry on sleeping, I get a clout on the head!"
