Neuschwanstein Castle 10/5
On Tuesday October 5th I went to Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps. That is the castle that Disney based his design on at Disney Florida. Anyway, it is cool to see, but the tour is pretty lame since you only see a small part of the castle, aren't allowed to take any pictures, and are herded through the place in about 45 minutes. Of course, the tour ends with a stop at the overpriced gift shop. All of this is done with about 80 other tourists trying to sneak pictures while listening to the German tour guide. I would do the tour if you come here, but since I have seen several others since then, I think it was overpriced and a bit of a disappointment in comparison.
Dachau Concentration Camp10/6
The tour aside, it really does look as cool in person as it does in the picture.

The next day I visited Dachau, which is a short drive northwest of the city of Munich. It has been well preserved, with many memorials since the time it was liberated in 1945. Obviously not an exciting place to visit, but of significant historical interest.
This is the main gate that prisoners entered when they arrived. Basic translation, "Work will make you free."
At one end of the camp there are numerous memorials. It started to rain in the middle of a bright sunny afternoon, and you can sort of see the rainbow in the background.
