A song from Rainbow Gathering 2004...

Om mane padme, Om mane padme
Om mane padme Om...
Om mane padme, Om mane padme
Om mane padme Om...
The jeweled lotus' flowering deep within our soul.
The jeweled lotus' flowering is our highest goal.

I'm sorry, to save space on this website I deleted me singing the song... It was a big file... I replaced it with new stuff...

According to a book written by Tensing Norgay, the words "Om Mane Padme" mean "The jewel is in the lotus". He was the Sherpa that walked with Sir Edmund Hillary to the top of Mount Everest. Together, they were the first people to climb that mountain. Tensing lived all his life near Darjeeling, India and everyone there work as tea farmers or sherpas. His biography is very interesting.
This reminds me of a tale... When they were standing at the base of Everest, they went to a local guru and asked him to bless the journey. The guru did so and then said "See you there". They climbed for many days and suffered many hardships, snow and ice and lack of oxygen... finally, they came to the top of the mountain and there was the guru... They were astounded and tried to talk but were so overcome with amazement that they couldn't speak clearly. The guru said

"What ! You walked ?"

Another guru tale told by Ram Dass is... A lady left New Jersey and travelled to India. She climbed the mountain and saw the guru. Then she said...
"Murry, come home"

the reason he tells this is that he was born a "nice Jewish boy" named Richard Alpert and uses this joke to relax the audience when speaking.
