This was my first hand drawn cartoon in many years. I thought about how it might offend people from Columbine, but decided it was okay. I was more upset when I noticed that my memory of the pyramid image on the back of US currency was not accurate.

What a wonderful world we have created.  The first tiny helpless student in the image is saying praise the lord, the second one is saying pass the ammo. Notice that someone took away the cops hands. I can’t draw hands, which helped in this image.

A week or so after I posted this image I heard on the news that a school board in Colorado was voting to install "In God We Trust" signs, because one member had ‘seen a cartoon’. I wondered if that was my cartoon that he saw.

For awhile there was a new fuss about prayer in schools, er, I mean, prayer in public schools. Prayer in private schools is perfectly legal – the American way is you can’t force people to pray, or punish them for not praying, in public schools. Similarly, no one is forced to use US currency, even though bartering should be reported as income. Use a check if you are offended by US notes.

I don’t know why I chose Sixth Street elementary, except that I was probably thinking about the song "I Love LA" by Randy Newman where he makes fun of locations around LA including 6th Street. I did not pick this because of my friend Diane and her kids who live off of Sixth Street.
